KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Murata Machinery Singapore Ptd Ltd has deployed its autonomous floor scrubber and drier, 'Buddy', at the Singapore Changi Airport.

In a statement today, Murata said, with the independently-developed 'Intelligent Transfer Navigation System' (It's NaviŽ), Buddy would enhance efficiency and reduce manpower required for cleaning large spaces, especially during night-time operations.

"With It's NaviŽ, we have transformed a manual push-behind type cleaning machine into an autonomous cleaning robot.

"Buddy is capable of memorising up to 64 different routes. It is fitted with water usage data, pad/brush pressure, speed and vacuum power used at every moment of each cleaning route," it said.

Murata said Buddy has been performing excellent cleaning work at one of the busiest airports in Japan.

"Going forward, we expect Buddy to be used in a variety of places, such as big shopping malls, hospitals and public spaces," it said.
