KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) multi-million dollar airfield ground lighting control and monitoring system project with US-based software solutions provider, Honeywell, will be done in phases within two years.

MAHB Managing Director, Datuk Baldisham Ghazali, said obviously, there would be more to do in safety, capacity and efficiency of Kuala Lumpur International Airport's (KLIA) airside operations.

"As for now, we have done a few. We started with critical ones and will continue throughout one-and-a-half years," told reporters after the Malaysian Investor Relations Association Annual Awards 2017 here today.

Also present were Bursa Malaysia Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan and Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) Deputy Chief Executive, Datuk Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin.

Baldisham won the award for 'Malaysian Investor Relations Awards' Best CEO for the mid-capitalisation category.

On MAHB's budget wishlist, he said, the government should look into the infrastructure upgrading of airports.

"We need to upgrade our airports as the international passenger traffic volume is on the rise year-on-year.

"We also hope that the government could provide more incentive for the tourism industry to attract even more tourists to visit Malaysia," he said.

Meanwhile, at the MIRA IR Awards 2017, HSS Engineers Bhd bagged four awards - Best Company for Investor Relations, Best CEO for Investor Relations; Best Investor Relations Professional (micro-capitalisation category); and, a Quality of One-on-One Meetings.

Ahmad Fairuz said all listed companies, whether small-cap or big-cap firms, should consider the latest technologies in rolling out its investor relations efforts to establish presence and cultivate relations with investors.

"Hence it is imperative that good governance and the development of good relations with investors are undertaken by companies at all levels and sizes, to ensure there is mutual understanding of expectations and objectives," he said.

He said the SC would continue to look at MIRA to further strengthen the relationship between companies and its shareholders, ensuring there was a strong and meaningful relationship between the two.

MIRA Chairman, Steven Tan, said there were 136 certified practitioners registered as MIRA members with over 100 active corporate members within the community.

"We are continuing to roll out initiatives for professional development and IR adoption by private limited companies to expand the active membership network and promote industry best practices," he said.
