Malindo plane overruns runway at Nepal airport

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama)-- A Kuala Lumpur-bound Malindo Air aircraft overran the runway at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Thursday night, according to the airline.

It said in a statement today that all the 132 passengers and crew aboard Flight OD181 were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

"Assistance has been rendered to the affected passengers, wherein meals and accommodation were provided as well as arrangements to the next available flight," it said.

The airline said that with safety as its utmost priority, it took the incident very seriously whereby an investigation and measures to rectify the situation had immediately been taken.

"The airline deeply regrets any inconvenience caused to the passengers who were affected by the incident," the Malaysian carrier said.
