Malaysia Airlines denies launching aircraft tender

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) --Malaysia Airlines says it is not in any tender process for widebodyjets as reportedby a foreign news agency.

"Reference is made to the story 'Malaysia Airlines launches widebody tender process, could oust Boeing 787 deal'originating from Reuters. Malaysia Airlines wishes to make clear that the story is speculative and erroneous," it said in a statementtoday.

The article, quoting an unnamed source, saidMalaysia Airlines hadlaunched a fresh tender process for 20 to 30 widebody jets that could supersede a deal with Boeingagreed duringPrime Minister DatukSeri Najib Tun Razak's US visit last year.

The airlinesaid there was currently no such tender process as claimedand that the memorandum of understanding with Boeing, as announced by the Prime Minister,remainedin place.

Malaysia Airlines wouldnot be commenting further on this matter, it added.
